Money Xcart SEO Basics for large ecommerce store

What are the basics for SEO in Xcart. We have CDSEO pro which has been a big help. However we have over 25000 products - only 7500 pages show up in XML sitemap and Google has only indexed 5000.
I am curious what obvious actions we can take to maximize our SEO. We have a large store it is difficult to optimize each product with great content. Is there code changes, store settings, internal linking, etc?

Have you read the X-Cart SEO Checklist in the above navigation? Google doesn't necessarily index all pages of a site - particularly large ones - increasing your number of back-links may help Google to see your site as more 'important' and thus index more of your pages. You should also determine why there's a discrepancy in your xml sitemap.

It's all relative to the number of backlinks and PageRank that your site has. The higher your pagerank, the more trusted your site, and the faster and deeper your site gets indexed. There is an exponential scale out there somewhere that shows this. I saw it at the SMX Advanced conference in Seattle last week.

Bottom line, get more links to the deep pages of your site...i.e. products that you are really trying to move. Request links from customers or suppliers to these pages. Submit products to shopping feeds and write reviews for your products on other people's sites (be sure to include a link back to the product on your site).
