CDSEO Basic vs CDSEO Pro for X-Cart SEO

Customer Dynamic Search Engine Optimization Links for X-Cart, better known as CDSEO Links and now referred to as CDSEO Basic, has been replaced with the next generation x-cart seo mod, CDSEO Pro. It is highly recommended that all CDSEO Basic users upgrade to the Pro version.

CDSEO Pro was completely rewritten, and offers the following improvements and additional features not available in CDSEO Basic:

• Optional use of folder or .html extensions configurable at the category/manufacture/product/static page level
• SEO of categories, manufacturers, static pages, and manufacturers in the base product

• Integrates primarily independant from x-cart with fewer file edits required for minimal impact on x-cart upgrades

The upgrade process from CDSEO Basic to CDSEO Pro is as follows:

1. Uninstall the file edits for CDSEO Basic by following the original installation instructions in reverse to revert to the original x-cart code, and delete the CDSEO Basic files. In a basic install, these edits will apply to the following files:
   
   

   .htaccess auth.php init.php home.php product.php

   include/product_modify.php admin/category_modify.php modules/Froogle/froogle.php

   skin1/location.tpl skin1/admin/main/category_modify.tpl skin1/customer/home.tpl skin1/customer/home_printable.tpl skin1/main/product_details.tpl

   
   
2. Upload the CDSEO Pro files and access the web based administration.
3. Follow the instructions to modify admin/install/basic_upgrade.php
4. Run the CDSEO PRO installation and you will have the option to use your cdseo basic urls with cdseo pro, or auto-create new urls and automatically 301 redirect the old urls to the new.
